How a change bag works

A change bag has a secret second compartment. A turn of the handle switches which side is open, so an object can vanish, change or appear. The egg bag is a related classic that hides an egg in a secret pocket.

Questions, answered.

What is a change bag used for?

To vanish, switch or produce objects. It is also used to force a choice, such as a name or a number written on a slip.

Is a change bag good for children’s shows?

Yes. It needs no sleight of hand, it is easy to see from a distance, and children love seeing things appear from an empty bag.
