Flash paper is a specially treated paper that burns almost instantly in a bright flash, leaving little or nothing behind. Magicians use it for sudden, visual moments. It's safe to use when you handle only small pieces, keep it away from faces and anything flammable, store it away from heat and flame, and follow the product's age and safety guidance. Our Blaze flash paper is intended for performers aged 19 and older.

What is flash paper?

Flash paper looks and feels much like ordinary paper, but it's chemically treated to burn extremely fast. Instead of smouldering like normal paper, it goes up in a quick burst of flame and is gone. That speed is what makes it magical, and also why it needs respect.

Why magicians use it

  • Instant attention. A sudden flash stops any room.
  • A clean ending. The paper disappears, so there's nothing left to examine.
  • Versatility. It can be used as a vanish, a dramatic reveal, or a visual accent to a routine you already perform.

Flash paper disguised as everyday objects

Plain white flash paper can look suspicious. Our Blaze line solves that by disguising flash paper as items you'd naturally be holding, so it can sit in plain sight until the moment you need it:

Blaze packs are consumables and don't include instructions, so they're best for performers who already have a routine in mind. Please note the Blaze series is intended for those 19 years of age or older and is used at your own risk.

Flash paper safety: the essentials

Handling

  • Use small pieces. The bigger the piece, the bigger the flame.
  • Keep it away from faces and hair, yours and your audience's.
  • Release it, don't hold it. Let the paper go as it ignites rather than holding it while it burns.
  • Watch your surroundings. Keep clear of curtains, decorations, napkins, alcohol, and anything else that could catch.

Storage

  • Store flash paper in its original packaging or a closed container.
  • Keep it away from heat, direct sunlight, lighters, and open flame.
  • Keep only the quantity you need, and store it out of reach of children.

Venues and travel

  • Ask first. Many venues don't allow open flame. Get permission before performing.
  • Check smoke detectors and stay clear of them.
  • Check airline rules. Flash paper and ignition devices may be restricted on flights.
